We all help in our own way

Do you think helping the world has to be hard? Think community service is all about building houses for the poor, or traveling to Africa to immunize infants? Do you wish that doing something useful was a little more, well, fun? Then listen to the wisdom of Ross Stackhouse, Brown freshman and New York private school graduate.

Sure, Ross went on his senior class spring break trip to the Bahamas. But he was underwhelmed, and his regrets can teach us all a little something:

“I didn’t have a crazy time,” he said. “I’d sort of gotten over that innate need to always fit in. I’d probably have been wiser to do something useful, like going skiing.

So next time your lifestyle seems a little too decadent, take some time off to do something for others. Like skiing.
