Foreigners are funny, says New Yorker

Once again, The New Yorker [12/5/05, not online] shows us how hilarious are people that don’t speak English good. For instance, the Chinese. Those silly folks think it is appropriate to post signs in their “Hongqiao Market” that commemorate famous American shoppers, like “Mrs. Vice President Cheney and Mrs. Ambassador of USA” or “Mr. and Mrs. Governor of Oklahoma of US.” They didn’t even know this practice was worth poking fun at, until the New Yorker showed them the error of their ways. Lucky we in America have “The Talk of the Town” to teach us about silly people so that we never do anything silly.

It seems like my tone is rather nasty this morning. Probably because my house is freezing and we are out of breakfast food. Speaking of which, it’s winter in Kashmir now, so consider donating to earthquake victims.
