Be cool

A few recent posts here have generated some controversy, which is rad. I’m perfectly happy to continue playing host to such controversy, with a couple of guidelines.

1. Restrict debate to the issues at hand, not the grammar and spelling of fellow commenters. C’mon, guys, this is teh 1nt3rn3t.

2. If you’re going to discuss others’ lives IRL, keep it positive. Example: “Sir, I find your comments as pleasing as your countenance. How is your mother?”

3. Anonymous comments are fine, provided that they abide by Guidelines 1 and 2.

Thanks; regular posts will return Monday.

Sounds good – sorry for going a little overboard.

I find your countenance pleasing, and I hope that your mother is well this Thanksgiving weekend.

Dang you Anna! I was planning on breaking rules 1, 2, and 3 before they became rules…. Seriously though, can I ignore rule #1 if you blog about Maureen Dowd’s bad copyediting and just willynilly slander those who make comments? JK JK JK. Your post is graceful, unlike my comment!

  3. Anna Says:

Yeah good point. I have meaned out a variety of public figures and news outlets in this space. In the case you cite, I was too slow to come up with a rebuttal to Dowd right then, so I hid behind a shield of spelling. Fowl fecal matter indeed.
